More Information |
Area Information : The Hurtwood is ideally placed for exploring some of England’s most beautiful countryside, as well as nearby Shere, the location for ‘The Holiday’ starring Jude Law and Kate Winslet.
The hotel''s location makes it ideal for guests wanting to visit the many attractions in the immediate area or slightly further afield in Dorking or Guildford. Leith Hill Tower is Southern England''s highest point and offers some spectacular, breathtaking views of the English countryside.
Polesden Lacey is also close by. It is a National Trust property and stately home where King George VI and the Queen Mother spent their honeymoon. Nearby is another National Trust property, Clandon Park, home to the Queen''s Royal Surrey Regiment Museum.
Minutes away in the village of Dorking is England''s largest vineyard: Denbies. Makers of fine English wines, they operate tours around the vineyards and have exhibition galleries and a fine restaurant. Dorking is also home to the UK''s first country park, Box Hill, owned by the National Trust and designated a site of special scientific interest because of the rare orchids that grow there in the summer.
A little further away is historic Guildford, dating back to Saxon times. Home to several museums, gardens and tourist attractions such as Guildford Castle and Abbot''s Hospital, the town has lots to see and do in addition to its fabulous shops.

Hotel Information : The Hurtwood Inn Hotel has stood in the heart of the quaint English village of Peaslake since 1920. Originally built on the site of 2 cottages, so that local people had somewhere to buy beer, the hotel takes its name from the whortleberries, or hurts, which grow locally in the village on nearby Pitch Hill, the site of one of the village''s scenic walks.
The hotel''s restaurant, Oscars, has an impressive reputation for its fine food and the hotel has an enviable reputation for the quality of its hospitality.
