By Car:
From the South:
- Follow the A64 from York towards Scarborough.
- When the A64 takes a hard left (just after you pass Staxton), you will be on Spital Road.
- Take the 1st exit at the roundabout onto Main Street (the B1261), towards Seamer.
- At the roundabout in Seamer follow the B1261 to East Ayton.
- Take the 1st right onto Castlegate.
- Turn left at the 1st opportunity onto Mowthorp Road.
- When you reach Hackness, keep a look-out for Broxa Lane on the left, as the hotel is situated off here.
From the North:
- Follow the A171 to Burniston.
- Take the right-hand turn off Mill Lane, signposted Forge Valley and Hackness.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway (17 miles / 27 km) - stopping at a number of destinations between Pickering and Grosmont, this tremendously picturesque preserved steam railway is an excellent way to explore the area.
Captain Cook Memorial Museum (19.5 miles / 31 km) - every aspect of Cook''s life is covered in this 17th century house, where the famous naval explorer lived as a 17 year old apprentice.
