More Information |
Area Information : Outside the hotel there is a whole world to explore. The beaches of North Devon are famous for their golden sands, with Wollacombe and Westward Ho! having Blue Flags, whilst Croyde is famous for surf.
Just a short drive away is the market town of Barnstaple, a World in Bloom winner. There are plenty of attractions here including go-karting and 10-pin bowling. The town also has excellent shopping and an historic pannier market.
A little further into the wilds you will find the beautiful and rugged hills of Exmoor National Park and the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. Also within easy reach is Clovelly, a village that has remained unchanged for centuries, whilst offshore lies the stunning Lundy Island, home to puffins and seals.
Wildlife enthusiasts love North Devon for the great variety to be seen here, and there is no greater prize than otter sighting. The North Devon coast is full of opportunities, from sailing fishing and walking to horse riding, cycling along the Tarke Taril or getting out and about on Exmoor.

Hotel Information : There is something truly special about Saunton Sands Hotel. Set high above Saunton''s lovely 5 km (3 mile) beach and overlooking the natural wonder of the Braunton Burrows World Heritage Site, the hotel''s magnificent location gives the hotel one of the most dramatic coastal views in the West Country.
Inside you''ll find first class accommodation and facilities, fantastic food and a quality of service you''d be hard pressed to find anywhere else.
Many guests are regular visitors who choose to return year after year. Of course with such a spectacular location it is easy to understand, but regulars at Saunton Sands are also drawn by the hotel''s friendly atmosphere and service that are second to none. From the moment you arrive you can expect a warm welcome that, together with courteous and friendly service and a real sense of understated luxury, will soon have you feeling right at home.
All public rooms at the Saunton Sands Hotel are thoughtfully designed and everyone can find somewhere that is right for their mood, from a quiet corner to a seat on the terrace with breathtaking views. Whichever you choose, it will take no time at all for you to feel relaxed and ready to start your holiday.
The setting of the sun sees Saunton''s easy-going charm give way to a more discreet and formal atmosphere. As an important part of life at the Saunton Sands Hotel, dinner in the restaurant is always a special occasion and provides a lovely ambience to wind down and catch up after an afternoon by the pool or a day at the beach.
With a choice of table d’hôte or á la carte menus, your choices change daily, depending on the availability of the finest ingredients. As you would expect they are locally sourced wherever possible, which means that every dish created is not just fresh, but delicious too.
And the staff at Saunton care as much about the wine in their cellar. With such a wide choice, the Sommelier loves to offer advice, suggest wines to suit your palate or organise something truly special.
