 More Information
Area Information : Close to the buzzing city and night life of Newcastle, South Tyneside is also blessed with beautiful, award winning sandy beaches that stretch from the mouth of the Tyne at South Shields to Trow Rocks, more than a mile away. Discover Arbeia Roman Fort and Museum, built in the AD 160s. The Hadrian''s Wall World Heritage Site stood guard at the mouth of the River Tyne and controlled the main port of entry to the Roman Empire in Britain. Alternatively, explore Souter Lighthouse, operating since 1871 and at its time the most advanced in the world. Explore the lighthouse, its engine rooms and the family living quarters in the Victorian keepers’ cottages. After your tour of the lighthouse, climb the 76 steps to the tower to enjoy the views of the coastline, from the mouth of the Tyne to the Tees.
Hotel Information : The hotel was built in the late 1700''s and has kept most of its traditional features. Renowned for its hospitality, you will feel most welcome at the Sir William Fox. A good British food menu has been introduced, delivering hearty dishes, all home-cooked, right down to the chips.
