Area Information : Nairn is a small seaside fishing town on the Moray Firth coast 16 miles from Inverness. A popular holiday destination since Victorian times, Nairn has long, wide sandy beaches, riverside walks and a pretty harbour.
Nairn is an ideal base for exploring the Highlands of Scotland. Within an hour''s drive are Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, Loch Ness, Castle Urquhart, Culbin Forest, the Cairngorms National Park, Cairngorm Mountain Railway, the Strathspey Steam Railway, Ballindalloch Castle, Elgin Cathedral and the Whisky Trail.
Nairn is a centre of golfing excellence with two 18 hole championship links courses - the Nairn Golf Club and Nairn Dunbar Golf Club which between them have staged the 1999 Walker Cup in 1999, Scottish Ladies'' and Girls'' Championships, Scottish Men''s Championship, British Ladies'' Championship, the Amateur Championship, the Vagliano, Jacques Eglise Trophy and the Northern Open. Nairn Golf Club is due to host the Curtis Cup in 2012.
