Southall is a suburb in the London region of Ealing. The town expanded thanks to growth of the Grand seam Canal, which links London to the rest of the Canal network. The canal allowed a number of industries to spring up, including the manufacture of bricks, flour and chemicals. At one point, a motion was tabled tor rename Southall Punjabtown! The conflicting religions in Southall have blended seamlessly, with very little ethnic stress. Southall is home to the Broadway, home to the largest Asian shopping mall in London, famous for its ethnic shops and restaurants. Southall is also home to the Glassy Junction pub, which served a number of Indian draught beers and is the first pub in the UK to accept payments in rupees. Southall has a railway station, which sees services between London Paddington and Reading, as well as the new 'Heathrow Connect' services for employees and passengers to Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
