Country House Ponte Caldaro
Via Tiberina 1380
The house is on two floors. On the first floor there are seven large rooms, each with bath, while the ground floor presents the kitchen, the reception and two dining rooms. The stairs and the handrails, as well as all the floors, were made using the bricks produced by hand in order to replace the materials consumed by time and peasants’ boots  with manufacts more similar to those removed. The house is on two floors. On the first floor there are seven large rooms, each with bath, while the ground floor presents the kitchen, the reception and two dining rooms. The farmhouse has been completely restored and the hand-made bricks that frame the doors and the windows have been recovered during  renovation. The stairs and the handrails, as well as all the floors, were made using the bricks produced by hand in order to replace the materials consumed by time and peasants’ boots  with manufacts more similar to those removed. Instead of what in the past was the stock of cereals, a modern kitchen was realised, the stable of dairy cows has been transformed into a large hall enriched by rediscovered vaults in  red brickwork and by two supporting arches that show proudly the beauty of the bricks brought back to new light. The iron torches illuminating the room have been forged by a local craftsman; the faint light they emanate highlights the ceiling and, together with the characteristic fireplace built with recovered bricks, give a warmth of an another era. From the old stable of the owner and his descendants’ superb stallions another large dining room has been obtained, with a sloping roof supported by massive chestnut beams intersecting with joists and leaving flat tiles on show in order to create the warm environment of the country houses. On the walls old lamps with copperplate give the right light to the ambient.
