Blackwood is a small town in the South Wales Valleys on the River Sirhowy in what is now part of Caerphilly. The town also had a coal mine, which was later on distroyed. which had a major effect on local economy. The Miners institue at north is central to the town's culture, It enjoys annual mime artist, referring to a theatrical performer of mime. The Little Theatre Blackwood on Woodbine Road, underwent a refurbishment a number of years ago and is now home to a 'in house' for amature theatre company. It is also known for the contributions of popular music both in Wales and globally.
